We create a special type of emulsion based on phospholipids – molecules that, like ceramides, are capable of forming ordered structures in the skin. It is possible to create multilayer lipid sheets with phospholipids very similar to those found in the skin, in its stratum corneum, and almost identical to lipid cement.
